The Mathematics Center of the University of Porto (CMUP) has opened a call for applications to 1 research scholarship to be granted to candidates wishing to pursue a PhD degree in Mathematics at CMUP. The terms of this call are in accordance with FCT's Regulations for Research Scholarships (RBI) and the Research Scholar Statute.

José Ferreira Alves, integrated member of CMUP and Full Professor of the Department of Mathematics of FCUP, has been nominated to the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.

Other integrated CMUP members who have previously been nominated to the Lisbon Academy of Sciences are Jorge Almeida and Jorge Milhazes de Freitas.
